Quick Moving Tips

Disconnecting Appliances

Unfortunately, relocating to a new place also means cleaning your old one. It's a good idea to create lists of all of the various appliances that need your attention, like removing mildew and stains on appliances around the house, draining your dishwasher, and removing tubes from the washing machine. Keep in mind that you're responsible for making sure your major appliances are disconnected. Your moving company won't do it for you due to insurance and safety reasons, so be sure to have your washing machine, stove, drier and any other appliance you may have readied for loading before moving day.

Notify Your Movers

Before your mover arrives, be certain to notify them of anything that may hinder their movement, such as a staircase. Additionally, find a place for them to park. If your areas streets are narrow, notify your neighbors in advance when the moving company will arrive therefore you can all make space for the trailer.

Create A Backup Of Your Files

It's a smart idea that you save and back up the files and folders on your laptop or desktop prior to your move, particularly if you use either for work. Bear in mind, extreme temperatures can damage your data so be certain to pack and secure them in a cool place. It is recommended that you transport these items yourself instead of leaving them to the moving company.
