Using Newspaper for your move

If you're using newspaper to pad and wrap your items, be certain it's an item that won't get damaged by ink smudges. You should take steps to make sure that your stuff won't get tainted by packing your stuff individually with various wraps before stuffing the newspaper inside.

Packing Appliances

Sadly, relocating to a new home also means cleaning your old one. It's smart to make a list of all of the different appliances that need your consideration, like removing the grease from the stove and oven, draining your dishwasher, and disconnecting the washing machine. Keep in mind that you're accountable for the disconnection of your major appliances. Your moving company won't do it for you due to insurance and safety reasons, so be sure to have your stove, washer, fridge, and any other appliance you may have readied for loading before moving day.

Notify Others of Your Address Change

Before you move, there are several companies, people, and local offices you should let know about your address change other than your family. The most obvious is the post office. Post offices often offer a forwarding service for your mail where for all intents and purposes, any mail that is sent to your previous address will be forwarded to your new one. However, the forwarding address only lasts for a limited time, so it's best that you inform everyone who needs to know as soon as you can.
