Quick Moving Tips

Keep In Mind Any Additional Packing Tape

Just because you have completed packing your belongings does not mean you won't need extra packing tape. It's not unusual for the moving company to ask you to tape over one of your boxes because it wasn't properly packed. These are genuine signs of a moving company that cares about your stuff. A word of caution: if you do not have any extra packing tape left over on moving day, your moving company might charge extra for a roll than a local store. It's like buying an instant camera at an amusement park. Be sure to ask them about any additional fees beforehand.

Various Methods to Taping

There are various techniques of securing and taping your boxes in preparation for packing, some are more efficient than others. Some relocation specialists use the "H" taping method. This involves taping down the center of the box in between the flaps and then the edges, forming the an "H" shape.

Notify Others of Your Address Change

Before you move, there are certain companies, people, and local offices you should notify about your address change other than your family. The most evident is the post office. Post offices often offer a forwarding service for your mail where basically, any mail that is sent to your old address will be forwarded to your new one. However, the forwarding address only lasts for a limited time, so it's a good idea that you inform everyone who needs to know as soon as possible. Other companies you should get in contact with include: your telephone, cable, water, and electric.
