Quick Moving Tips

How To Move Your Firearms

Since the "Brady Bill" legislation in 1994, contracted moving companies are allowed to relocate firearms for their customers. As expected, this service requires prospective customers to follow explicit guidelines. Firearms must be emptied of all ammunition and the particulars of each gun (make, model, and serial number) must be incorporated into the inventory. Furthermore, carriers will not move your ammo for you. That is the responsibility of the owner. It's always a good idea to be savvy with local state legislation on the policies and limitations in relation to firearm safety.

Using Newspaper for your move

If your are using newspaper to pad and wrap your things, make sure it is something that will not be messed up by ink smudges. You could take a certain approach to make sure that your items will not get stained by wrapping your belongings separately with a different wrap before stuffing the newspaper in.

Cleaning Appliances

Unfortunately, moving to a new home also means cleaning your old one. It's best to list out all of the various items that need your consideration, like removing the grease from the stove and oven, draining your dishwasher, and disconnecting the washing machine. Be aware that you're responsible for the disconnection of your major appliances. Your moving company won't do it for you due to insurance and safety reasons, so be sure to have your washing machine, stove, drier and any other appliance you may have readied for loading before starting to move.
