Quick Moving Tips

Let Your Movers Know

Prior to your movers arrival, be sure to update them of anything that may get in the way of their movement, such as small doorways. Also, look into where they can park. If your neighborhood has narrow streets, inform your neighbors in advance when the movers truck will arrive therefore you can all create space for the trailer.

Leaving Behind Appliances

Sadly, relocating to a new home also means cleaning your old one. It's smart to list out all of the various appliances that need your attention, like removing mildew and stains on appliances around the house, draining your dishwasher, and removing tubes from the washing machine. Be aware that you're responsible for making sure your major appliances are turned off. Your moving company won't do it for you due to insurance and safety reasons, so be sure to have your washing machine, stove, drier and any other appliance you may have prepared for loading before beginning to move.

How To Tape

There are various techniques of securing and taping your boxes in preparation for relocating, some are more professional than others. Some movers use the "H" taping method, that involves taping down the center of the box in between the flaps and then the edges, creating the letter "H".
