Quick Moving Tips

Moving Your Firearms

Since the "Brady Bill" legislation in the mid 90's, carriers under contract are allowed to transport weapons for their clients. Naturally, the service obligates potential clients to follow explicit rules. Firearms must be emptied of all ammunition and the particulars of each gun (make, model, and serial number) has to be included in the inventory. Also, movers will not transport your ammunition for you. The client is responsible for that. It's always a smart idea to check with local state law on the policies and restrictions concerning firearm safety.

Packing Your Tools

If you own items that need gasoline or oil like your mechanical machines or home improvement tools, be sure to drain them prior to having the moving company pack them. This is a critical safety precaution that you need to consider. Hand tools are easily managed; you can just leave those items in your tool box. Just be sure to fill up the empty spaces with packing material such as Styrofoam to stop your tools from shifting during transportation.

Recycling What Is Left Over

Recycling may be the increasingly popular trend of the time, but it's definitely favorable for the entire population. Once you are done unloading your things, make sure to dismantle your boxes and flatten them so they can be recycled. You can give your boxes away to a local recycling center, and even certain relocation companies would be prepared to take them from you.
