Quick Moving Tips

Let Your Movers Know

Prior to your movers arrival, be sure to update them of anything that may get in the way of their movement, such as small doorways. Also, look into where they can park. If your neighborhood has narrow streets, inform your neighbors in advance when the movers truck will arrive therefore you can all create space for the trailer.

Leaving Behind Appliances

Unfortunately, relocating to a new area also means cleaning your old one. It's smart to create lists of all of the various appliances that need your consideration, like removing mildew and stains on appliances around the house, taking the water out of your dishwasher, and disconnecting the washing machine. Be aware that you're accountable for making sure your major appliances are disconnected. Your moving company won't do it for you due to insurance and safety reasons, so be sure to have your washing machine, stove, drier and any other appliance you may have prepared for loading before beginning to move.

Back up Your Data

It's recommended that you save and back up the files on your home or work computer ahead of your move, especially if you use either for for your professional life. Keep in mind, extreme temperatures can ruin your files so be certain to pack and make sure they are secured in a cool place. It's a smart idea that you transport these items on your own instead of leaving them to the moving company.
