Quick Moving Tips

Leaving Behind Appliances

Sadly, relocating to a new home also means cleaning your old one. It's best to make a list of all of the various items that need your consideration, like removing mildew and stains on appliances around the house, draining your dishwasher, and removing tubes from the washing machine. Be aware that you're responsible for the disconnection of your major appliances. Your moving company won't do it for you due to insurance and safety reasons, so be sure to have your stove, washer, fridge, and any other appliance you may have readied for loading before starting to move.

Loading Your Tools

If you own possessions that need gasoline or oil like your mechanical machines or home improvement tools, remember to drain them before the movers load them. This is a critical safety precaution that you need to think about. Hand tools are simply managed; you can just place them in your tool box. Just remember to load the empty spaces with filling material such as packing peanuts to protect your tools from moving during the move.

Taping Techniques

There are special methods of securing and taping your boxes to prepare for packing, some are more useful than others. Some movers use the "H" taping methodwhich involves taping down the center of the box between the flaps and then the edges, forming the an "H" shape.
