Quick Moving Tips

Dont Forget Any Additional Packing Tape

Just because you have finished packing your items doesn't mean you won't need additional packing tape. It's not unusual for relocation experts to ask you to tape over one of your boxes because it wasn't properly packed. These are genuine signs of a moving company that cares about your items. A word of caution: just in case you don't have any extra packing tape left over on moving day, your relocation company may charge more for a pack than a hardware store. It's like buying an instant camera at a national park. Make sure to ask your moving company about any additional costs before you move.

Packing Appliances

Unfortunately, relocating to a new area also means cleaning your old one. It's a good idea to list out all of the various items that need your attention, like removing the grease from the stove and oven, draining your dishwasher, and disconnecting the washing machine. Keep in mind that you're responsible for the disconnection of your major appliances. Your moving company won't do it for you due to insurance and safety reasons, so be sure to have your washing machine, stove, drier and any other appliance you may have readied for loading before starting to move.

Loading Your Tools

If you own items that run on gasoline or oil like your mechanical machines or home improvement tools, be sure to drain them prior to having the movers pack the items. This is an important safety measure that you need to consider. Hand tools are easily managed; you can just leave those items in your tool box. Just be sure to load up the empty spaces with packing material such as Styrofoam to protect your tools from moving during the move.
