Quick Moving Tips

Packing Appliances

Sadly, relocating to a new home also means cleaning your old one. It's best to create lists of all of the various appliances that need your attention, like removing mildew and stains on appliances around the house, taking the water out of your dishwasher, and removing tubes from the washing machine. Keep in mind that you're accountable for making sure your major appliances are turned off. Your moving company won't do it for you due to insurance and safety reasons, so be sure to have your stove, washer, fridge, and any other appliance you may have prepared for loading before moving day.

Transporting Your Tools

If you have items that need gasoline or oil like your mechanical machines or home improvement tools, remember to drain them prior to having the moving company pack them. This is a fundamental safety precaution that you need to consider. Hand tools are simply managed; you can just leave those items in your tool box. Just make sure to fill the empty spaces with filling material such as Styrofoam to protect your tools from moving during the move.

Create A Backup Of Your Files

It's suggested that you back up the data on your personal computers or PDAs before your move, specifically if you use either for for your professional life. Keep in mind, extreme temperatures can hurt your data so be sure to pack and make sure they are secured in a cool place. It's recommended that you transport these items yourself instead of leaving them to the movers.
