Moving Your Firearms

Since the inception of the "Brady Bill" in the mid 90's, contracted moving companies are permitted to ship firearms for their customers. As expected, the service obligates prospective customers to follow explicit rules. Firearms must be emptied of all ammunition and the particulars of every gun (make, model, and serial number) has to be incorporated into the inventory. Also, relocation experts will not ship your ammunition for you. The client is responsible for that. It's always a good idea to read up on local state law on the policies and regulations concerning gun safety.

Using Newspaper for your move

If your are going to use newspaper to pack and cover your things, make sure it's an item that will not be damaged by ink stains. You could take a certain approach to ensure that your things will not be tainted by packing your stuff separately with a different wrap before padding the newspaper inside.

Remember The Extra Packing Tape

Just because you've completed packing your belongings does not mean you won't need spare packing tape. It's not uncommon for the moving company to ask you to tape over one of your boxes because it wasn't properly packed. These are telltale signs of a moving company that cares about your stuff. Something to remember: in case you don't have any extra packing tape left over on moving day, your relocation company might charge more for a roll than a hardware shop. It's like buying a slice of pizza at an amusement park. Be sure to ask your relocation company about any extra costs before you move.
