Quick Moving Tips

Moving Your Guns

Since the inception of the "Brady Bill" in the mid 90's, contract carriers are permitted to move guns for their clients. Naturally, the service obligates prospective clients to follow specific guidelines. Guns must be emptied of all ammunition and the particulars of every firearm (make, model, and serial number) has to be incorporated into the inventory. In addition, relocation experts will not transport your ammo for you. That is the responsibility of the owner. It's always a smart plan to be savvy with local state legislation on the policies and restrictions regarding gun security.

Disconnecting Appliances

Sadly, relocating to a new place also means tidying up your old one. It's smart to make a list of all of the different appliances that need your consideration, like removing the grease from the stove and oven, draining your dishwasher, and disconnecting the washing machine. Keep in mind that you're responsible for the disconnection of your major appliances. Your moving company won't do it for you due to insurance and safety reasons, so be sure to have your washing machine, stove, drier and any other appliance you may have readied for loading before starting to move.

Create A Backup Of Your Files

It is recommended that you save and back up the files and folders on your home or work computer before your move, specifically if you use either for for your business. Bear in mind, great temperatures can damage your files so be certain to pack and secure them in a cool place. It's a good idea that you transport these items on your own instead of leaving them to the moving company.
