Quick Moving Tips

Moving Your Guns

Since the foundation of the "Brady Bill" legislation in 1994, carriers under contract are allowed to move guns for their customers. Naturally, this service obligates potential clients to follow precise procedures. Firearms must be emptied of all ammunition and the details of each weapon (make, model, and serial number) has to be included in the inventory. Additionally, movers will not move your ammunition for you. The customer is responsible for that. It's always a smart plan to get familiar with local state law on the rules and regulations concerning gun safety.

Keep In Mind The Extra Packing Tape

Just because you have finished loading your things does not mean you won't need additional packing tape. It isn't rare for the moving company to ask you to tape over one of your boxes because it wasn't properly packed. These are real signs of a mover that cares about your possessions. Something to remember: just in case you don't have any additional packing tape left over on the day you move, your mover might charge extra for a pack than a you may think. It's like buying an instant camera at an amusement park. Be sure to ask your moving company about all extra fees beforehand.

Leaving Behind Appliances

Unfortunately, relocating to a new area also means tidying up your old one. It's a good idea to make a list of all of the various appliances that need your consideration, like removing mildew and stains on appliances around the house, draining your dishwasher, and removing tubes from the washing machine. Keep in mind that you're responsible for the disconnection of your major appliances. Movers won't do it for you due to insurance and safety reasons, so be sure to have your fridge, dishwasher, and any other appliance you may have prepared for loading before beginning to move.
