Quick Moving Tips

Using Newspaper for your move

If your are using newspaper to pad and wrap your things, make sure it is something that will not be messed up by ink smudges. You could take a certain approach to make sure that your items will not get stained by wrapping your belongings separately with a different wrap before stuffing the newspaper in.

Notify Others of Your Address Change

Before you move, there are a few people, offices, and businesses you should let know about your address change other than your family. The most evident is the post office. Post offices often offer a forwarding service for your mail where for all intents and purposes, any mail that is sent to your original address will be forwarded to your new one. However, the forwarding address only lasts for a short amount of time, so it's best that you notify everyone who needs to know as soon as you can. Other companies you should get in touch with include: your utility provider.

Cleaning Appliances

Unfortunately, relocating to a new place also means cleaning your old one. It's a good idea to make a list of all of the various appliances that need your consideration, like removing mildew and stains on appliances around the house, taking the water out of your dishwasher, and removing tubes from the washing machine. Keep in mind that you're accountable for making sure your major appliances are disconnected. Movers won't do it for you due to insurance and safety reasons, so be sure to have your stove, washer, fridge, and any other appliance you may have prepared for loading before beginning to move.
