Quick Moving Tips

Let Your Movers Know

Before your moving company gets to your house, be sure to update them of anything that may get in the way of their movement, such as tight hallways. Also, look into where they can park. If your neighborhood has narrow streets, tell your neighbors in advance what day and approximate time the movers truck will arrive so you can all create space for the trailer.

Cleaning Appliances

Unfortunately, moving to a new home also means cleaning your old one. It's smart to make a list of all of the different items that need your consideration, like removing mildew and stains on appliances around the house, draining your dishwasher, and disconnecting the washing machine. Be aware that you're responsible for making sure your major appliances are turned off. Movers won't do it for you due to insurance and safety reasons, so be sure to have your stove, washer, fridge, and any other appliance you may have prepared for loading before starting to move.

Various Ways to Tape

There are special methods of securing and taping your boxes in preparation for relocating, some are more efficient than others. Some movers use the "H" taping method. This involves taping down the center of the box between the flaps and also the edges, creating the letter "H".
