Quick Moving Tips

Disconnecting Appliances

Unfortunately, relocating to a new place also means cleaning your old one. It's a good idea to create lists of all of the various appliances that need your attention, like removing mildew and stains on appliances around the house, draining your dishwasher, and removing tubes from the washing machine. Keep in mind that you're responsible for making sure your major appliances are disconnected. Your moving company won't do it for you due to insurance and safety reasons, so be sure to have your washing machine, stove, drier and any other appliance you may have readied for loading before moving day.

Dont Forget The Extra Packing Tape

Just because you've completed loading your things doesn't mean you won't require spare packing tape. It's not rare for the moving company to ask you to tape over one of your boxes because it wasn't properly packed. These are telltale signs of a relocation company that cares about your belongings. Something to remember: in case you don't have any additional packing tape left over on moving day, your moving company might charge more for a pack than a convenience store. It's like purchasing a slice of pizza at an amusement park. Be sure to ask them about all additional fees beforehand.

How To Move Your Guns

Since the "Brady Bill" law in 1994, contract carriers are permitted to relocate weapons for their clients. Naturally, this service requires prospective customers to follow precise guidelines. Guns must be emptied of all ammunition and the particulars of every firearm (make, model, and serial number) has to be included in the inventory. Moreover, relocation experts will not ship your ammunition for you. The owner is held accountable for that. It's always a good plan to check with local state law on the guidelines and regulations relating firearm security.
