Quick Moving Tips

Thinking About New State Taxes

Some of the major criteria to be aware of if you are moving to a different state is the variety of means in which money is received by the local government. Or in other words, taxes. Before you move, be certain to get informed about any likely adjustments on your property and income taxes. Do not let the new state's sales tax catch you off guard as well.

Create A Backup Of Your Files

It's suggested that you back up the data on your personal computers or PDAs before your move, specifically if you use either for for your professional life. Keep in mind, extreme temperatures can hurt your data so be sure to pack and make sure they are secured in a cool place. It's recommended that you transport these items yourself instead of leaving them to the movers.

Packing Appliances

Sadly, moving to a new area also means tidying up your old one. It's a good idea to create lists of all of the different appliances that need your attention, like removing mildew and stains on appliances around the house, taking the water out of your dishwasher, and removing tubes from the washing machine. Keep in mind that you're responsible for making sure your major appliances are disconnected. Movers won't do it for you due to insurance and safety reasons, so be sure to have your stove, washer, fridge, and any other appliance you may have readied for loading before moving day.
