Quick Moving Tips

Pack with Newspaper

If you're going to use newspaper to pad and wrap your belongings, make sure it's an item that will not be damaged by ink stains. You can take a certain approach to ensure that your things will not be discolored by wrapping your items individually with various wraps before padding the newspaper in.

Inform Others of Your Address Change

Before you move, there are several people, offices, and businesses you should let know about your address change other than your family. The most evident is the post office. Post offices often offer a forwarding service for your mail where for all intents and purposes, any mail that is sent to your previous address will be forwarded to your new one. However, the forwarding address only lasts for a short amount of time, so it's a good idea that you notify everyone who needs to know as soon as you can. Other companies you should get in touch with include: your company that provides the utilities.

Keep In Mind The Extra Packing Tape

Just because you have finished packing your belongings doesn't mean you won't require additional packing tape. It isn't uncommon for the moving company to ask you to tape over one of your boxes because it wasn't properly packed. These are telltale signs of a mover that cares about your items. Something to remember: just in case you don't have any extra packing tape left over on moving day, your mover may charge extra for a roll than a convenience store. It's like buying a bottle of soda at an amusement park. Be sure to contact them about any additional fees beforehand.
