Quick Moving Tips

Packing with Newspaper

If your are using newspaper to pad and wrap your items, be sure it is something that won't be ruined by ink smudges. You should take a certain approach to make sure that your items won't get tainted by wrapping your stuff individually with a different wrap before padding the newspaper in.

Moving Your Firearms

Since the inception of the "Brady Bill" in the mid 90's, carriers under contract are permitted to move guns for their clients. Unsurprisingly, the service requires prospective clients to follow specific guidelines. Guns must be emptied of all ammunition and the particulars of every firearm (make, model, and serial number) must be incorporated into the inventory. Also, relocation experts will not ship your ammo for you. That is the responsibility of the owner. It's always a good plan to get familiar with local state legislation on the guidelines and regulations regarding gun safety.

Disconnecting Appliances

Sadly, moving to a new place also means cleaning your old one. It's a good idea to make a list of all of the different appliances that need your attention, like removing the grease from the stove and oven, draining your dishwasher, and disconnecting the washing machine. Keep in mind that you're accountable for making sure your major appliances are disconnected. Movers won't do it for you due to insurance and safety reasons, so be sure to have your stove, washer, fridge, and any other appliance you may have prepared for loading before moving day.
