Quick Moving Tips

Dont Forget Any Additional Packing Tape

Just because you've finished loading your items doesn't mean you won't need spare packing tape. It isn't rare for movers to ask you to tape over one of your boxes because it wasn't properly packed. These are real signs of a moving company that cares about your possessions. A word of caution: if you don't have any extra packing tape left over on the day you move, your mover may charge extra for a pack than a convenience store. It's like purchasing a slice of pizza at an amusement park. Make sure to ask your relocation company about any additional costs before you move.

Inform Businesses of Your Address Change

Before you move, there are several companies, people, and local offices you should give notice to about your address change other than your family. The most obvious is the post office. Post offices often offer a forwarding service for your mail where essentially, any mail that is sent to your original address will be forwarded to your new one. However, the forwarding address only lasts for a short amount of time, so it's best that you notify everyone who needs to know as soon as you can. Other companies you should get in contact with include: your telephone, cable, water, and electric.

Let Your Movers Know

Prior to your movers arrival, be certain to inform them of everything that may obstruct their progress, such as small entryways. You may also want to find a place for them to park. If your neighborhood has narrow streets, notify your neighbors in advance what day and approximate time the movers will arrive so you collectively make space for the trailer.
