Since the "Brady Bill" law in 1994, carriers under contract are allowed to ship firearms for their customers. Unsurprisingly, this service requires prospective customers to follow specific procedures. Firearms must be emptied of all ammunition and the particulars of every gun (make, model, and serial number) must be included in the inventory. Furthermore, movers will not ship your ammo for you. The client is responsible for that. It's always a smart idea to be savvy with local state legislation on the policies and regulations relating weapon safety.

There can be different techniques of securing and taping your boxes to prepare for relocating, some are more practical than others. Some moving companies use the "H" taping method,that involves taping down the middle of the box between the flaps and then the edges, creating the letter "H".

Your moving company won't do it for you due to insurance and safety reasons, so be sure to have your washing machine, stove, drier and any other appliance you may have prepared for loading before starting to move.
